Frequently Asked Questions

How fragrant are your candles?

UniKely Expressions creates candles that gently fill your small and some medium sized spaces with fragrances that don’t overpower your senses. All Candles are made with 100% soy wax which will not give the same scent throw that you would receive with a paraffin or paraffin blend that would have other additives. But you will still receive a nice scent. It is a good idea to close the door for the first 30mins. Always take into consideration the size of the candle and the size of the room you are burning it in as well as if it is an open space or closed space.

Why is my candle bumpy after the first burn?

The rough, bumpy tops after burning a soy wax candle are caused when the hot wax in the melt pool cools and solidifies at an inconsistent rate. This is a feature of soy wax, and not a sign that anything is wrong and does not affect how the candle burns.

Why does my candle have white chalky stuff on it?

This is called frosting a byproduct of a natural wax and is caused by the growth of tiny crystals on the surfaces of the wax. All soy wax will frost over time, but luckily frosting is solely an aesthetic issue and does not affect the way your candle burns or smells.

Why is my wick mushrooming and black at the end?

The “mushroom” shape sometimes seen at the end of a candle wick after burning is the result of carbon buildup. To help control this and decrease soot (the black smoke) trim your wick are every burn.
